This is going to be a long long post but a good one!!
I have been waiting for this day for my sister for the last nine months. The minute she got engaged I started planning and planning!! Well let me just say that this by far exceeded all my expectations for her big day. It was absolutely perfect from the ceremony to the reception. Lets begin with the morning we woke up bright and early at the hotel and had breakfest. Then we all piled in my car and headed to all get our hair done. That took a couple of hours, then we headed to the church to unload the car. Around 12 we headed to the Lodge to get a look at the reception before hand, so we could have an idea of how things were coming. It already looked beautiful and wasn't even done yet.
It was now time to begin the process of getting all ready for the big event in a couple of hours. We got our make-up done and it was so relaxing and enjoyable!! Then everyone got in their dresses to begin pictures at 2:00 with the bride. We had to be careful though because Scott was not to see her until she walked down the aisle. Pictures went great and we got some good ones. I can't wait to see them when Brittany is done editing them. After pictures we did some with the groom and then the wedding party took some funny ones just to kill time!! Then we all went and waited for the big event to take place. The time went by minute by minute maybe it was beacause of how nervous I was or everyone was, but who knows really!!
5:00- We heard the music began and the grandmothers and mothers were being seated. So we all new it was almost time. They called all the bridesmaids to come get lined up, I gave my sister one big hug and said " I love you Sarabeth Kilgroe" It was the last time she would be a Kilgroe. As I was walking down the aisle I tried to hold back the tears and I was doing good until Scott looked at me and gave me the biggest smile and a wink and I lost it. He is amazing and I am so lucky to have a wonderful new brother!! Then it was the big moment Sarabeth has been waiting for her whole life........THE DOORS OPENED and their she was the MOST BEAUTIFUL BRIDE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. Scott's face was priceless. After Sarabeth walked down the aisle there was the giving of the bride and a few words from Sarabeth and Scott. Then Sarabeth and I did a special thing to honor the memory of my father, we lit a candle together standing infront of our amazing mother. It was so emotional but amazing. I know my dad would be so proud of Sarabeth and the amazing women she has become, and he would love Scott!!! The rest of the ceremony was very special and I loved standing next to my sister as she said her vows, watching her face and Scott's truly showed what love is.
Reception
The reception was held at the Vestavia Lodge. It was one of the most beautiful receptions I have ever been too. My Aunt Rae and Cousin Jeff and many many many others made this possible for my sister. Her theme was Rustic Antique look with color of green and purple. We rode to the reception in a Trolly it was awesome to be with the entire wedding party with the newly married couple. As we arrived we had to get lined up for the big enterance as we were each introduced as we walked in. We then watched the Bride and Groom have their first dance and it was beautiful. Next was the father/daughter dance!! I had been waiting to see this moment for a very long time because of the song. My sister really wanted to use the song "He Didn't Have To Be" by Brad Paisley. Well we had even better plans with this song. One of my good friends Lauren Taylor is pursuing or music career and she is one fantastic singer. Well we changed the words to make it fit my sister and step-dads relationship, and Lauren sang the song for us in her style so it sounded more like the song was about a daughter and step-father. It was absolutly amazing. There wasn't a dry eye in the crowd nor was the bride or father dry eyed. Then we partied on for the rest of the night!! We did the usual cake cuttings, toss of the bouquet, and garter. All of the Alpha Xi girls joined hands around the amazing bride and sang our song Boom Boom my Honey. I loved being a part of this moment for my sister and my mom was to....ha ha. At around 9:00 after most of the crowd had left we had Krystal Burgurs deliverd for a little midnight snack!! It was such a big hit and I could not tell you how many burgurs I had that night but they were surely delicious. Around 10:30 it was time for the wonderful couple to leave and head off to their night at the Wynfrey Hotel. It was the best wedding I have ever been to and thats not because it was my sister. Everything was just perfect and it was a great night. I can't believe it went by so fast!! But SB says she is gonna do it once every year, so lets hope sooo!!!
Here are some pictures of the night!!!
